Looking For Time ~ from my TIME series
Original Piece: $350 framed
Size: 14″H x 11″W
Looking for time is all about trying to find time to work on all of the ideas I have for new pieces of art, and time to experiment with new media.
This one is predominantly blue and teal on a wood panel. I started by adhering various printed pieces of paper then adding texture with burlap, beaded ribbon, and cheesecloth.
And then comes the fun part, when I start to build up the structure with metal cogs, wood, metallic filigree, glass, the wooden numbers 3, 4 and 7, metal arrows headed towards the clock face. Directly below the clock is a pair of glasses looking outward for time. Centred in the glasses are two Swarovski crystals which shine if a light source in directed on my piece of art.
Did you notice the raised dots on the background which represent the undeniable march of time? And did you spot my favourite flying insect, the dragonfly? I would love to have the capability to fly like a dragonfly, changing directions and hovering like a helicopter. On the internet I read that fossil dragonflies have been found with wingspans up to two feet in length — hello Jurassic Park.
